Thanks to the wise and foresighted Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco’s security policy turned into a lever for development, transcending the fight against crime to address citizens’ concerns and forge links between police and society, Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council Mohamed Ben Ali Koman said Tuesday in Marrakech.
In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of his participation in the 93rd General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-INTERPOL) held in Marrakech (November 24-27), Koman stressed that the security institution in Morocco highly values safeguarding stability in order to enshrine the accelerated development process underway in the Kingdom.
“What characterizes Morocco’s security institutions is their steadfast willingness to develop in order to implement, on the ground, the foresighted Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which aims to meet the Kingdom’s aspirations for greater progress and prosperity,” he said.
He added that the Moroccan security institution has made serving citizens among its main priorities, while paying particular attention to the promotion of human rights and safeguarding human dignity. In this regard, he pointed out that the National Security Open Days remain a renewed opportunity to consolidate the partnership between citizens and the police, an unprecedented experience likely to inspire Arab and foreign countries.
Koman also emphasized that this success reflects the high standing of the security institution and Moroccan security officials, referring in this regard to the recent awards presented to Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance Abdellatif Hammouchi, Prince Naif Medal for Arab Security for First Class as well as the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard, in addition to Morocco’s election as INTERPOL Vice President for Africa.
Morocco’s hosting of the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly, currently witnessing exceptional participation, he said, will enable several countries, particularly Arab countries, to learn from Morocco’s pioneering experience.
Furthermore, Koman stated that Morocco has always been a major hub for Arab security cooperation, noting that the Kingdom hosts the headquarters of the Arab Organization for Social Defense Against Crime and the Arab Office for Civil Protection and the Environment, some of the most important specialized Arab bodies under the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
Morocco’s decision to host the headquarters of these organizations falls fully in line with His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s Vision for security, sustainable development, and environmental protection, he concluded. (PERSISMA/Red)
